Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Cubes (Printable Version)

Frozen citrus-spice cubes blending lemon, ginger, and turmeric for convenient daily wellness support

# Ingredient List:

→ Citrus

01 - 3 large lemons, juiced (about 3/4 cup juice)

→ Roots & Spices

02 - 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
03 - 2-inch piece fresh turmeric, peeled and chopped (or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric)
04 - 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Liquid

05 - 1 cup filtered water

→ Sweetener

06 - 1-2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Combine lemon juice, chopped ginger, chopped turmeric (or ground turmeric), water, black pepper, and sweetener (if using) in a blender. Blend on high speed until completely smooth.
02 - Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl, pressing down to extract all liquid and remove pulp fibers.
03 - Pour the strained liquid into an ice cube tray, carefully filling each compartment to near the top without overflowing.
04 - Place the tray in the freezer and freeze for at least 2 hours or until cubes are completely solid.
05 - Pop out 2 cubes per serving. Dissolve in a glass of warm water, add to smoothies, or enjoy as a concentrated wellness shot. Transfer remaining cubes to a freezer-safe bag and store for up to 2 months.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Having these ready in the freezer means you can actually stick to a wellness routine instead of letting fresh ginger go bad on your counter
  • The bright zesty flavor wakes you up better than coffee some mornings, and your body will thank you for the anti-inflammatory boost
02 -
  • Fresh turmeric will stain your cutting board, blender, and counter bright yellow. Clean everything immediately with soap or you will have yellow spots forever.
  • If the mixture tastes too intense frozen, try dissolving it in warm water instead of taking it straight as a shot.
03 -
  • Buy ginger and turmeric in bulk at Asian markets where it is significantly cheaper than regular grocery stores
  • If you cannot find fresh turmeric, use the dried powder but reduce to 1 teaspoon since the flavor is more concentrated
